Who I Am

I am an interdisciplinary educator and researcher trained as a Cultural and Linguistic Anthropologist. In my writing, classrooms, and public lectures, I explore the connections between “The Popular” and race, gender, class, and sexuality.

I use popular culture to teach people how to overcome some of the impediments caused by the fear of difference, by offering the space and the language for discussing their power, privilege, challenges, and oppression. I also equip people with theoretical and practical tools for making our world a place where we can all fit.
