The Earth is More Powerful Than Us

A recent trip to Mexico’s Teotihuacan incited a most thought provoking question: “What will we leave behind?” from one of my blog followers. If humans were to disappear off the face of the planet tomorrow, in just a few centuries, the Earth would look as if we were never here. Our plastic would be buried beneath mountains of sediment, our cities would collapse, crumble, or be washed away. And if their facades remained, almost nothing would remain that would identify us or places.

We have more stories to tell other than those of getting shot, getting married, getting rich or dying, or getting cheated on. We can do better and we don’t even have to look that far to do it. Just go to the library.

After having conversations with a couple of the students that I worked with who had never experienced movies that I think offer fantastic viewing experiences, I wanted to share a few film titles with them because for most of them they were born around the time many of these films were released, or too young to remember them at all. They literally did not have these films available.
